Don't Assume Anything
Well, it's not my habit to show these off. I'm justifying this as a curiosity of English bureaucracy, where everything has a place even when there's nothing there.

I don't know the context, perhaps you do, but is it not possible the bus stop recently was serving one or more buses, but has recently stopped, and the sign is to notify people of this?
